16th Annual Olmstead Community Integration Conference (The Arc)

Community, professional, and technological inclusion for our mental and physically-challenged citizens.

This is what the  DC Department of Behavioral Health, the DC Office of Disability Rights, and certainly DC Recovery Community Alliance (DC Recovery) believe: Community, professional, and technological inclusion for our mental and physically-challenged citizens. That is why DC Recovery attended the 16th Annual Olmstead Community Integration Conference on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m..

The United States Supreme Court ruled in 1999 that segregation of persons with disabilities is discrimination and violates the American Disabilities Act. Therefore, public entities including state and local governments must provide appropriate and available community-based services to persons with disabilities.  As a result, in 2012 the Office of Disability Rights published the District’s Olmstead Community Integration Plan. DC Recovery was honored to participate in September 17th’s celebration of the passing of this major legislation and contributed with resources and education, to the celebration’s theme: “Looking Back – Looking Forward”.
