DOC) Central Detention Facility (CDF) and the Correctional Treatment Facility (CTF) graduated from D.C. DOC’s 120-day voluntary Residential Substance Abuse Treatment program (RSAT). SUMMARY:National Call To Action & Hill Day
DESCRIPTION:                \nDC Recovery joined Faces & Voices of Recovery at the Recovery Leadership Summit (RLS) for the “National Call to Action & Hill Day” on June 8-11\,2025\, the first day was very eventful. It started with a “Welcoming Networking Session” with food and beverages served in the upper level of the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Alexandria\, Va. We later had breakout sessions where I had the honor of facilitating a breakout session titled\, “Strength and Structure – Growing Peer Leadership from the Ground Up” with the help of Demetrius Jones. The purpose of this meeting was to  “Connect with your peers to explore how strong organizational infrastructure and peer leadership pipelines fuel sustainable recovery movements. This conversation space brings together current leaders to share models and tools for supervision that uplift peers and volunteers as a long-term strategy to build Future Leaders who will carry on the legacy and keep the recovery movement alive”. There were other break-out sessions with other groups and ended with an “All Recovery” meeting. (See attached photos of Day 1 of the RLS) \nHere is the post of Day 3’s events: \n \n  \n  \nDC Recovery Community Alliance\nPeer Operated Center\n5656A 3rd Street\, NE\nWashington\, DC 20011\n(202) 916-5592

SUMMARY:2025 America Honors Recovery Gala Dinner!
DESCRIPTION:  \nWhat a night! On June 10 2025\, DC Recovery attended Faces & Voices of Recovery’s Annual America Honors Recovery (AHR) Gala Dinner to support the acknowledgement of those warriors who put their pedals to the metals in the recovery advocacy movement. They are pioneers. They are innovators. They are champions. But most of all\, they are true advocates who stand up for the rights of people with substance use disorders. To state the eloquent quote by Lawrence Medina\, AHR’s Board Chairperson who referenced the urgency to advocate –  “the shared mission is to dismantle stigma\, expand access\, and affirm every person’s right to recover with dignity.” And\, the gala supported that effort by celebrating outstanding trailblazers. \nWell done\, Faces & Voices of Recovery and much appreciative for your nationwide work throughout the years! \nDC Recovery Community Alliance\nPeer Operated Center\n5656A 3rd Street\, NE\nWashington\, DC 20011\n(202) 916-5592
