DESCRIPTION:The 2023 Recovery Month Kickoff Luncheon showcased the successful strides made in our DC community by organizations such as SAMSHA\, DC Recovery\, and the Faces & Voices of Recovery. The event was held at the Columbus Club Room at Union Station with guest speakers from SAMHSA\, ONDCP\, and other key public officials. \nDr. Rahul Gupta\, Director of the National Drug Control Policy awarded an award from President Biden to Patty McCarthy\, Chief Executive Director\, Faces & Voices of Recovery at the luncheon today. \nFaces & Voices of Recovery partnered with SAMSHA for the first-ever Walk for Recovery which immediately followed the luncheon. \n

SUMMARY:Join The Movement
DESCRIPTION:The “Join The Movement\, Make an Impact on DC’s Opioid Crisis” event at Union Station was a success! DC Recovery’s support staff was phenomenal in making our presence known in the DC community. The event organizers\, The h3 Project\,  Outreach partners\, Police officers and lots of community members all . Our beloved Board member Anna Mabel Jones was at the site with her staff as well spreading the message of full recovery and treatment. \nWe distributed NARCAN and Test strips and demonstrated the techniques for Harm Reduction to police officers and to folks that came to our table along with NARCAN use. \nWhat an event! \n

SUMMARY:DC & MD Peers Unite at DC Recovery!
DESCRIPTION:One of the most powerful events at DC Recovery was held on  September 20\, 2023 when the DC & MD Peers united to collaborate on how we all can better serve our communities. There were multiple organizations in attendance for open discussions coupled with playing service-related games\, eating pizza\, and the overall comradery of peer association.
